Buganda is an African kingdom nation that was founded around 400 AD, by people of mixed origins, and is now part of the republic of Uganda. Buganda is divided into 18 counties, called massaza (singular ssaza). The land area of Buganda is about 19,600 square miles, excluding water, and the average altitude about 4,000 feet above sea level. It stretches for about 200 miles along the shores of Lake Victoria of Nnalubaale and extends inland about 80 miles. As the table below shows, Buganda, whose land is almost all arrable today, is much larger than many major countries in the world.
